# Call Them by Phone Phone Calls is the planned traditional voice channel for calling an AI employee from a phone number. It is separate from the current in-workspace voice experience and is not available to enable yet. ## TL;DR Phone Calls will support traditional inbound and outbound calls. The channel is planned, not live. Use text chat for conversations with your employee today. ## How It Works ```mermaid flowchart LR A[Phone call] --> B[Voice connection] B --> C[Employee] C --> D[Spoken response] ``` The planned phone adapter will convert speech to text for the employee and convert its response back to speech. Employee memory, tools, and approval controls will remain shared. ## What It Can Do Once released, the plan is: - Answer inbound calls to a real phone number. - Place outbound calls. - Convert speech to text for the employee, and its reply back to speech, over a real telephone line via Twilio. None of this works today. The channel exists only as a **Coming soon** entry in the channel list. ## How to Set It Up No setup is available yet. Phone Calls will appear under **Settings > Technical > Channels** once released, alongside a **Manage** option for number and employee settings. ## Tips & Tricks Voice and Phone Calls are both planned, not live yet. Use text chat for conversations with your employee today. ## Good to Know The card in **Settings > Technical > Channels** stays a compact **Coming soon** placeholder until phone delivery ships. ## Frequently Asked Questions **Q: Is this the same as in-app voice?** A: No. Phone Calls is a separate planned telephony channel. **Q: Can I connect a number now?** A: No. It is not available yet. **Q: Will calls use the employee's normal controls?** A: Yes, shared permissions and guardrails are intended.
