# Apollo.io Chrome Extension: How to Prospect on LinkedIn *How-to — 2026-10-12 — by Mahmoud Zalt* Install, pin and log in to the Apollo Chrome extension, save contacts from LinkedIn profiles, and fix it when the panel stops appearing. **Short answer.** **Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store, pin it, then click it and log in with your Apollo account.** On a LinkedIn profile, click the extension to open the panel, then choose whether to save the contact and reveal their email, or their email and phone. Saving a contact costs credits, so decide before you click rather than after. **About this guide.** This guide is based on publicly available information and Apollo's own documentation, checked on 17 August 2026. Sistava is not affiliated with Apollo.io. Interfaces and pricing change often, so confirm the current steps in their documentation before you rely on them. The Chrome extension is how most people actually use Apollo day to day. You are already on a LinkedIn profile, already reading someone's background, and the extension puts the contact data and the next action in the same place instead of behind a tab switch. This guide covers installing it, logging in, what you can do from a LinkedIn profile, where else it works, and the troubleshooting sequence for when the panel simply refuses to appear. One thing to be clear about first. The extension is a window into your Apollo account, not a separate product. Your credits, lists, sequences and settings are the same ones, so anything you do here spends from the same balance. ## How do you install the Apollo Chrome extension? ### Installing and setting up the extension 1. **Find it in the store** — Go to the Chrome Web Store and search for Apollo.io, then click Add to Chrome. 2. **Confirm** — Click Add extension when Chrome asks you to confirm. 3. **Pin it** — Click Extensions in your browser toolbar, then click the pin icon beside Apollo. Without this, the extension is buried behind the puzzle piece menu every time you want it. 4. **Log in** — Click the Apollo Chrome Extension, then click Log In. Sign in with your Apollo email address and password, or use one of the single sign-on options. 5. **Or skip the login** — Apollo's docs note that if you are already logged in to Apollo on another Chrome tab, you are logged in on the extension automatically. If you use Microsoft Edge, Apollo says the extension is available there too, with the caveat that Chrome updates ship first and Edge updates follow afterwards. Worth knowing if you are chasing a bug that a release note says is fixed. ## How do you prospect from a LinkedIn profile? Apollo's documentation gives a short path: go to a user profile on LinkedIn, then click the Apollo Chrome Extension to open it. The panel then shows what Apollo knows about that person. From there Apollo names two revealing actions, and the difference between them is what you are spending. One saves the contact and retrieves their email address. The other saves the contact and retrieves both their email address and their phone number. **Saving a contact costs credits.** Apollo states this directly in its LinkedIn prospecting documentation. The action that reveals a phone number is a different, larger request than the one that reveals only an email, so pick deliberately rather than clicking the bigger button by habit. For what a specific action costs on your plan, check the credit settings inside your own account, since rates vary by plan and Apollo has been changing its credit system. ## What can you do without leaving the panel? Once you are looking at a saved contact, Apollo documents a set of actions that work anywhere the extension is supported, not just on LinkedIn. | Action | What it does | |---|---| | Add to list | Adds the contact to one or more existing lists, or creates a new list on the spot | | Add to Sequence | Enrols the contact into an outreach sequence | | Compose Email | Writes a one-off message to them | | Log Activity | Records an interaction against the contact | | View colleagues | Shows other people at the same company | | Push to CRM | Sends the record to your connected CRM | | Review Additional Information | Opens the fuller record detail | The add to list flow is worth knowing precisely, because it is the one you will repeat most. Open a saved contact, click Add to list, select your lists, and click Apply. To make a new one instead, click Create a new list, enter a name, then click Create list and add. Apollo also documents a task view inside the extension. Open the extension on a supported site, click Settings, then Tasks. Email tasks can be completed directly from there, while phone call and LinkedIn tasks are performed manually and then marked complete. That task panel is the part most people never find, and it is the reason the extension can replace a lot of app switching rather than just supplementing it. ## Where else does the extension work? Apollo's documentation lists supported platforms including Google Calendar, Gmail, HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Salesloft and company websites. LinkedIn and LinkedIn Sales Navigator each have their own documented flows. In Gmail, Apollo describes tracking individual emails, inserting templates and snippets, adding meeting links so prospects can book time with you, desktop notifications, and nudges to remind you to follow up. In Google Calendar it surfaces contact information and pre-meeting insights before a call. Apollo also documents starting a call from the extension itself. Click the Dialer, choose the number you are calling from, choose the number you are calling, optionally toggle Record call, then click Start call. ## Why has the Apollo panel stopped appearing? Apollo publishes a troubleshooting order, and following it in order genuinely saves time, because the cheap fixes catch most cases. - **Reload the extension first. **Click Extensions in Chrome, click the overflow menu beside Apollo, then click Reload Apollo Extension. If it is pinned, right-clicking it offers the same option. - **Update Chrome. **Apollo's docs point you at the chrome settings help page and a Relaunch button. No Relaunch button means you are already current. - **Allow third-party cookies and hard refresh. **Both are on Apollo's list, ahead of anything more drastic. - **Test in incognito. **Open the extension details page, toggle Allow in Incognito, then open an incognito window. If the problem vanishes, another extension is the cause. - **Turn other extensions off. **Once incognito clears it, disable your other extensions and re-enable them one at a time to find the conflict. - **Allowlist Apollo in security tools. **Apollo names this explicitly, which usually means a corporate security or privacy tool is blocking it. If it still fails, Apollo asks you to bring specific details to support: what fails, where it fails, your Chrome and extension versions, a screenshot or recording, and any errors listed for Apollo on the Chrome extensions page. Gathering those first is faster than a round trip. ## The rules that apply when you save someone from LinkedIn Apollo says something in its own LinkedIn documentation that deserves more attention than it usually gets. It does not remove EU based or UK based contacts from the Chrome extension, and it recommends you check a prospect's location on LinkedIn before saving them and make sure you are GDPR compliant before enrolling them in outreach. **Finding an address is not the same as being allowed to use it.** Consent requirements, opt-out obligations and how clearly you must identify yourself as a sender differ by country, and the rules that apply are generally the ones where your recipient sits. Under GDPR and the US CAN-SPAM Act, those obligations belong to you as the sender rather than to the data provider. Check a prospect's location before you enrol them, make opting out trivially easy, honour it immediately, and get legal advice if you are sending across borders at scale. There is a second constraint that has nothing to do with Apollo. LinkedIn's own terms restrict automated scraping and bulk automation of the platform, and accounts do get restricted for it. Reading a profile you navigated to yourself is a very different activity from running a bot across thousands of them, and it is worth staying on the right side of that line. ## If tab-by-tab prospecting feels like a grind Notice the shape of the work. You find a profile, read it, click, decide whether to spend a credit, pick a list, pick a sequence, and repeat. The extension makes each of those clicks faster, but the loop is still yours to run, one person at a time. Work like this is exactly what we removed at Sistava. Rather than driving the loop yourself, you hire an AI Employee and tell it in plain English who you want researched and reached. It has its tools connected already, it asks you when it is unsure, and it sets itself up. There is no panel to drive and no queue to work through by hand. In fairness, the extension is a genuinely good piece of design. Bringing contact data, lists, sequences, tasks and a dialer into the page you are already reading removes a lot of friction, and plenty of people prefer to keep a hand on the wheel for exactly that reason. It is a different trade, not an inferior one. ## FAQ ### How do I install the Apollo.io Chrome extension?
