What is Devin?

Devin is an AI software engineer that works asynchronously. Cognition also owns Windsurf, the AI IDE, and sells Devin Enterprise for larger organizations. The company raised at a valuation that puts it among the most heavily funded AI companies, which matters mainly because it signals this product is not going away.

Why this comparison exists at all

People compare Devin and Sistava because both are described as autonomous AI workers. That is where the similarity ends. Devin is measured on pull requests merged; a Sistava employee is measured on whether the outreach went out and the customer got an answer. The buyer is different too. Devin is sold to engineering organizations with a backlog and reviewers to check the output. Sistava is bought by founders and small teams who often have no engineers at all. If you genuinely need both, they coexist without conflict. Nothing about hiring an AI marketer affects how your engineering team ships, and we would not suggest one as a substitute for the other.
