A recurring task could only do one thing: come back, filling your board with rhythms instead of real work. Now there are two clear things. A task happens once and lives on the board. A routine is a rhythm, with its own instructions, its own cadence, and its own run history. Every run sends the employee to do the job again rather than replaying the last result, so a weekly competitor report reflects this week's competitors instead of last week's cached answer. Each run is logged on the routine's own card with its status, and a card only reaches your board when the work genuinely needs you: it wants your review, it spans more than one session, or it is waiting on something only you can give. That split keeps the board meaning one thing, work that wants a human, while the routine keeps the full record of everything it did. Change the cadence, the instructions, or who it belongs to and it takes effect from the next occurrence forward. Nothing already completed is rewritten. Two things worth knowing. Every employee gets a default board-check routine when it is hired, and your working-hours setting is what controls that one; add your first custom routine and the default steps aside so the same check does not run twice. And a routine stays quiet until a real person has messaged that employee or given it a task at least once, so a brand-new hire does not start working on a timer before you have said anything. Run now counts as that first contact, which makes it the quickest way to confirm a new routine actually works. Everything you had repeating moved across automatically, on the same schedule, with the same person on it.
