Training Now Reads Word, Excel And PowerPoint
Bug Fix · 2026-08-03
Details
If you uploaded a .docx, .xlsx or .pptx to train your team, it was accepted, it showed as Completed, and your employee learned nothing from it. Only PDFs and plain text files were actually being read. Nothing on screen gave that away, so the only way to notice was to ask your employee about the document and be told it did not exist. Every format we accept is now read by us, directly, before anything is stored: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, OpenDocument, RTF, text, CSV, JSON and XML. If a file cannot be read for a real reason, such as a scan with no text in it, that file is marked as failed with the reason next to it and the source shows how many items did not make it. A green tick now means what it says. If you trained on an Office document before today, train on it again. It is worth checking: ask your employee what it knows about the file.
What changed
- Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents are read properly now
- A file that cannot be read is marked failed, with the reason in plain English
- Each source shows how many items were not learned
- Only files we can genuinely read are accepted for training
- Click a trained file to open it in the side panel, same as in the Drive
- Re-train any Office document you uploaded before today
