Transcribe Audio and Video
Turn an uploaded recording into a written transcript that your employee saves in Drive and can use in follow-up work.
TL;DR
Attach an audio or video file in chat and say "transcribe this." Your employee turns it into a Drive document, then can summarize it, list action items, or answer questions about it. This is for recordings you already have. For a live Meet, Zoom, or Teams call, use Meeting Attender.
How It Works
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1. Attach a file | Upload the recording directly in chat |
| 2. Ask normally | Say "transcribe this" or include the follow-up you need |
| 3. Credit check | The employee checks the recording length and credit balance before processing |
| 4. Transcript saved | The written result is filed as a Drive document |
| 5. Continue working | Ask for a summary, action items, quotations, or answers from the transcript |
Supported Files and Limits
| Type | Formats |
|---|---|
| Audio | MP3, M4A, WAV, AAC, FLAC, OGG |
| Video | MP4, MOV, WebM |
| File size | Up to 72 MB per upload |
| Recording length | Up to 4 hours |
Upload the media file itself. Public links, social posts, YouTube links, and meeting links are not downloaded by this tool.
Speaker Labels
For a conversation, ask for speaker labels. The transcript marks voices as Speaker 0, Speaker 1, and so on, with timestamps. It does not guess people's names. Tell your employee the names if you want a named summary.
What It Costs
The tool charges by recording length, only after a successful transcript:
| Option | Credit rate |
|---|---|
| Transcript | About 8 credits per minute |
| Speaker labels | About 2 additional credits per minute |
The exact charge uses the measured recording duration. If there is not enough credit balance, the recording is not sent for transcription.
Privacy
Your recording is sent to the transcription service to create the requested text. The original upload remains private to your workspace, and the completed transcript is saved in your Drive. Do not upload passwords, API keys, or other secrets.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does this join a live meeting? A: No. Use Meeting Attender for a live Meet, Zoom, or Teams call. Audio Transcriber handles a file that is already recorded.
