Enough variants to actually learn what works
Paid channels need volume to produce a signal. Testing two creatives tells you which of two is better, which is not the same as knowing what works. Testing properly means more variants than a small business can normally produce.,Marisol generates the matrix: the same offer across different visual treatments, headline placements, formats, and hooks, all inside your brand rules so testing does not mean drifting off-brand.,When a variant wins, the winning elements become the base for the next round, so each cycle starts from something learned rather than from scratch.

Two Variants Is Not a Test
Running two creatives against each other feels like testing and mostly is not. It tells you which of two specific executions performed better on a particular week, with no information about why, and no basis for the next decision beyond keeping the winner. Learning requires enough variants to isolate what is doing the work: whether the lift came from the image, the headline, the format, or the offer. That means a matrix rather than a pair, which is exactly the volume constraint that has historically kept systematic creative testing out of reach for businesses without a design team.
Volume Without a System Is Just Drift
The obvious failure mode once producing many variants becomes easy is that the brand dissolves. Every variant is a slightly different interpretation, and after a few rounds the ads no longer look like they come from the same company as the website. The fix is that the variants are generated from a defined system rather than improvised each time. The dimensions being varied are chosen deliberately, and everything else, the colour roles, the type, the logo treatment, is held fixed. What you are exploring is the space of on-brand executions, which is a genuinely different exercise from producing a lot of ads.
Rounds Should Compound
The common pattern is that each testing round starts fresh: new ideas, new creatives, no memory of the last cycle. That resets the learning every time and is why many small advertisers run tests for a year without their creative getting measurably better. Treating the winning elements as the new baseline, and having the next matrix test against them rather than beside them, means each round starts from established ground. It also makes the accumulated learning portable, since what you end up with is a documented set of things that work for your audience rather than a folder of past ads.
FAQ
How many variants make sense?
Enough that the test can distinguish real differences given your traffic, which depends on your spend and conversion volume rather than on a fixed number. The honest constraint is usually budget: running more variants than your traffic can resolve produces confident-looking noise, and it is worth saying so before the spend.
Will testing this much dilute the brand?
Not when the variants are generated inside your specifications. That is the reason to test from a defined system rather than ad hoc: the range being explored is bounded by rules you set, so you are testing which on-brand execution performs rather than how far off-brand you are willing to go.
Does she handle platform ad policies?
Format and text-density requirements are applied when producing, and likely policy problems are flagged. Final approval sits with the platform, and their enforcement is inconsistent enough that no one can promise otherwise. Claims made in the copy remain your responsibility.
Can she work from a competitor ad we like?
She can use it as a reference for structure and approach, which is normal practice. She will not reproduce their assets or copy, and if a request is effectively asking to clone someone else creative, she will say so and propose an approach that borrows the idea rather than the execution.
